Terrible photos. Interesting cars.
There’s an International Scout that lives near me. It’s white on top, baby-blue on bottom, and I see it a lot. Tonight it was parked in my bus stop. It hopped the curb in a garish display of masculinity to get out of the way of my bus. It’s in the far distance in this shot.
The blurry two-tone sedan in the distance is a Chairman. So strange to see a modern-ish car I couldn’t put a name to! Had to be a Ssangyong thoguh, has that depressing budget Korean look going.

True story: as a 2005+ Chairman H, it’s a W124 Benz derivative styled to look more like a more modern Benz - slightly.

Oh that KDM flair. Funny how a 1st gen Lexus LS kind of resembles an updated reverse-engineered W126. The Chairman looks like the unholy devilspawn of an early LS and a W140.

It is funny, but it’s also intentional I think. They borrow design cues from successful older cars so people draw parallels and consider them a real luxury brand.

If you held your hand up over the lights and grille, it’d be nearly impossible to tell the difference vs. an ordinary mid-90s E-class.

Yep, definitely intentional. Although it hails from a place not as copycat as others, they know you have to at least resemble the big boys to ever be able to play with them. Slowly but surely, it might happen at some level.

It’s not cheating or copycat if they actually licensed tooling from Benz, and engines. Which they did. That’s what I was trying to say - the Chairman H

I suppose that is a different situation. I still don’t like it though - basing your car off the older architecture of another car.
